Eve is the best science fiction, open world PvP, player driven sandbox MMO. Eve can have moments that are truly epic in scope and excitement. However the vast majority of Eve gameplay is terrible and CCP have let so much potential rot away.

I had forgotten about Planetside 2 if that's the reference. But Sony Online are not much better than CCP. A battlefield with "Hundreds" of players would be pretty awesome though if they pull it off.
